BOOK STUDY WITH PASTOR JASON
The Book: “Messy Spirituality” by Mike Yaconelli
When: Sept 29, Oct 6, 13, 20, 27
Where: St John’s Library
Due to popular “demand,” I am offering another book study. This next book is in my top three absolute, must read books, written by an incredible man who was impassioned to write the book for “imperfect and messy people who just don’t feel spiritual enough.” My first time reading this book, I was absolutely changed, encouraged, and affirmed by how honest, accessible, and vulnerable Yaconelli shares from a heart for a depth of faith we are desperate to know but few of us ever come to embrace.
“Messy Spirituality was written for the silent majority of us who have been convinced that we just don’t do Christianity right. We spend most of our lives worried about what we don’t do instead of what we have done, focused on our imperfections instead of God’s fondness for the imperfect. Why? Because we’ve been bombarded by media convincing us that real Christianity is all about perfection. Mike Yaconelli dares to suggest that imperfection, unfinishedness, and messiness are, in fact, the earmarks of true Christianity; that real Christianity is messy, erratic, and lopsided.”
If you are interested in signing up, please email me or call the church office. The book is available from Amazon for $13.94 plus shipping. Please order the book and try your best to read through it before we begin the study. If you do not have access to Amazon or are computer illiterate, and would like to be part of the study, I can order a copy for you. I am very much looking forward to our time together again. This is going to be a great book to read, ensuring some rich conversation together. See you then!
